Can the ATV2 handle deinterlacing?
#16
I mainly use my ATV2 to stream Live-TV from a tvheadend-server, most channels are interlaced (Swedish ComHem) and I don't think that my ATV2 is deinterlacing this media very well. I also have a real HTPC (Ubuntu/Nvidia) and playback of same media is crystal clear and very smooth on this machine - and I would like to have same deinterlacing capabilities on my ATV2.

Are there any plans to support more deinterlace mehtods than 'Software Blend' on ATV2? Or perhaps there are hardware limitations?

lack of cpu power on atv2 gives us headaches in that case...

A5 is already able to deinterlace SD MPEG2 TS streams without stuttering. (I've even posted some videos of the iPad 2 running 5.0.1 and XBMC Eden, comparing XMBC to GoodPlayer's decoding, to http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/test-v...subtitle-p ) Hope the ATV3 (also A5-based) is jailbroken soon.

But ATV3 has only a single core A5 - it might not give a performance boost...
