[AppleTV1][CrystalBuntu] Optical Passthrough Problems on Specific Files
#1
I am running XBMC (PRE-11.0 compiled on Jul 19) on a USB stick install of Crystalbuntu on a 1G AppleTV.

I have a BroadcomCrystalHD card installed, and I am running an optical line to my Yamaha surround sound amp.

My amp is capable of Dolby Digital (AC3) and DTS decoding, so I have the audio set to passthrough on both.

Most everything works flawlessly, and I'm very pleased with it, but just today I ripped Tron-Legacy using MakeMKV, and when played through XBMC, I get crackles, crackling on any scene with music or explosions. Quiet scenes with just dialogue seem to be fine.

Watching the same DVD through my Blu-ray player with its digital output going to my amp, I have no audio problems whatsoever.

I'm trying to diagnose if the problem is in the RIP, in the Amp, in the passthrough driver, or in XBMC. Please give me some guidance.

I went to the Settings and changed the Audio Passthrough Device to "Custom" and entered

hw:0,1

All is well with the world now.
