If I want a 3.5" disk in my HTPC ...

... what are my options?

The Dell Zino takes a 3.5" disk and that would certainly be an option, though I'd prefer an ION or ION2 chipset if possible. The usual suspects for HTPCs, e.g. Zotac and Acer, all seem to take 2.5" disks. I could use a standard PC, but it's nice to have something that looks like a piece of consumer electronics rather than a PC.

When I read your title I thought you meant floppy disk, and wondered why ANYBODY would want one of those. But then I realized you're talking about hard drive size.

If you don't require an off the shelf complete item, you could probably find a mini-itx case that can mount a 3.5" hdd. There are quite a few zotac minit-itx boards that would drop right in.

Haha, ditto.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I've always thought the Dell Optiplex GX series cases make good HTPC cases.

Search eBay for Optiplex gx260, gx270, gx520, gx620.

Some good cases for around $20.

And some will even hold a 3.5" floppy drive Laugh
