My parents have a boxee box and a 2TB usb hard drive. They want something more like XBMC so they can use HULU + but love how easy the interface is and the remote is for boxee box and the boxee box is very inexpensive. I was wondering if there was a solution for them. They like the 3d SBS movies and full 1080P .mkv playback. I would appreciate the help again cost is a factor so please keep that in mind. Thank you so much.

Unfortunately Boxee Box is a very good solution for the money. It gets you 90% of the features a high-end user wants, at less than half the cost.
If you want Hulu+, then you have to run Windows. With just a Win 7 license and 4GB of RAM required, you're already at the cost of a Boxee Box.
I'm sorry to say that to get just a tiny bit more functionality than the BB has, you'll have to spend quite a lot more.
