Seems like it should be easy enough to do. GetGlue has an api that allows it.

If I had an ounce of knowledge about coding I would have given it a go, I tried to reverse engineer the trak.tv addon but I had no idea where to start or even what 90% of the code did.

I love XBMC and use GetGlue quite a bit. I have only a basic level of coding knowledge (compared to many of the real programmers around here) but the GetGlue API seems pretty simple. I know that I've worked with more difficult looking ones. http://getglue.com/api

I have decided to start working on an add-on that could fit this need. I am a n00b and will take sometime but I'll be updating progress here.

Not really. He has gotten nowhere fast. Well, to be fair, he's further along than I would be. But GetGlue does have an API. I am surprised that the developers of TraktTV have not added a crossover to their site to GetGlue. While Trakt is fun, it is mostly useless if none of your other friends use it.

when i installed this xbmc started to crash on startup!

I have used this too on Eden, but now on Frodo it no longer works. I have found two of these kind of GetGlue projects by Googling, but both of them seem to have been abandoned a while ago. Also, it would be better to just have a standalone addon that checks into GetGlue, instead of tagging along with Trakt scrobbles.
