I think you'll be pleasantly surprised once the news post hits xbmc.org about how all this went down.

Patiently waiting!!!!!

Waiting the mips patches developed by Sigma pushed to git tree...
We are considering porting xbmc-android to mips-based broadcom 7231(running android ics), so the mips patches are very critical to us.

Anyone knows about the progress?

Nice! Would BCM7231 support automatically mean BCM7229 and BCM7230 support as well? They support 3DTV with MVC:

http://www.broadcom.com/press/release.php?id=s658012

"With features similar to the BCM7231 but at a lower price point, the BCM7230 and BCM7229 HD STB SoC platforms enable smaller form factors and lower power consumption while also supporting 3DTV with MVC, OpenGL ES 2.0 and mainstream 1080p full HD quality video."

If I understand correctly all new Broadcom SoC's for STB are MIPS based and support OpenGL ES 2.0?

BCM7229, BCM7230, BCM7231, BCM7301, BCM3325, BCM7344, BCM7346, BCM7354, BCM7356, BCM7358, BCM7418, BCM7421, BCM7422, BCM7424 and BCM7425

Now I am also very curious who "we" are?

I don't know much about other BCM platforms other than BCM7231.
BCM7231 is the platform we are working on.
Since CryStax NDK r8 is not ready, xbmc-android-port to bcm7231 is not started. Maybe there will be a lot of difficulties in front of us and if you are interested in this, feel free to share with us Smile

So guys what do you think, will there be a Sigma/ xbmc player on the market any time soon or do we have to wait at least one more year?

I've got a video of them demoing a unit at the 2012 XBMC DevCon (wiki). I just need to clean up the audio (weak mics on the cameras we used) so you can actually hear the Sigma guy.

I still haven't done any processing on the audio, but here it is:

Sorry for the shaky cam! Tripod was in my luggage (along with a better camera with better mic), which got lost at the airport (there was a strike at the airport and three of us had to drive across Germany overnight to make it to the conference!)

Note that I'm really paying attention, not coding something up, honestly (IIRC it was the inprogress shows stuff for Keith) :p
