i think i have switched off all the updates in Nirto and XBMC n ATV but still keeps doing it i thought it was the box so i got it changed over but still having the same issue....

Also another question some of the zip files i have installed will not open, missing settings etc.... or when loaded says missing plug-ins..

Most likely you need to block the appletv from searching for updates. See below and follow the link

5. Problems

Q: Why is my ATV2 crashing?
A: These are the most common causes:
Are you watching an MKV file /w embedded subtitles? Disable them and retry the MKV.
Do you have Firecore Media Player installed? Try removing it and testing again.
Have you verified proper ownership of your settings? Try ssh'ing to your ATV2 as root, and running "chown -R mobile:mobile /User/Library/Preferences/XBMC".
Have you disabled updates? Try blocking them.
Are you using a skin other than Confluence? Check to see if you're running out of memory.

Erm, please use the current FAQ: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=IOS_FAQ

This is how you repair ownership: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=IOS...r_settings

I had a similar problem, so bad that XBMC wouldnt even load up, I would get the logo screen, then *poof*, rebooted on me. Using the ATV media player, it would play files, but lets say I leave it on over night (idle in a directory), returning to playing videos would cause AppleTV to *poof* reboot on me.

I have two AppleTVs dedicated to XBMC and only one had this problem. A complete restore and re-jailbreaking appeared to fix this.

There's a specific question in the FAQ re: crashing/resetting. It's a good place to look for help.
