XBMC as Media Server...need help
#1
Hi. I am running XBMC Live on an i5 PC and trying to share the drives attached to the XBMC machine with my WD Live in the bedroom. Both are on wired LAN. I have enabled UPNP/DLNA on the XBMC and the WD Live sees the XBMC Media Server and the shared media. The problem is the WD Live can play some of the movies (including Blu Ray rips) but not all. It seems to be the movies I encoded using High Profile setting in Handbrake to not play through XBMC UPNP. The WD Live sees the file and attempts to play but all I get is a black screen. I have also set up SMB share on the XBMC machine and when I access the network share on the WD Live, it can now play those files that it could not under UPNP. I would like to use the UPNP server vs SAMBA. Anyone know it there is a limitation on the types of files that XBMC UPNP will serve? Below is media info for a movie that will not play through UPNP but will through SAMBA when shared from XBMC to WD Live. Thanks
