#1
Sorry i've been searching everywhere but can't seem to find a definate answer.
i've just got my revo r3600 out of the woodwork. it is plain linux and i installed xbmc over a year ago and i have just managed to update it via sudo get update tutorial .so i guess i am now on the latest dharma.

however i am wanting to install plugins.
i tried putting all depositries on a USB stick to add via usb but the add on manager doesn't seem to recognise the stick.

am i supposed to program the revo to allow usb? if so how do i do it? thx
i am really a linux newbie and any help is most appreciated.

Ok one more time. Where did you look? Its like any other file manager. You have to navigate to the correct folder. So.....where did you look?

Try to look in the /media folder

Code:
/
  |
  |____
          /media
                |
                |_____
                          /media/your usb

You may or may not have to add the root folder as a source in the file manager.

What does that mean? What version and or type of linux.

XBMC live would be my suggestion if its not already.

Just to be clear. You downloaded the XBMC "Live CD" and installed it?

and not

Downloaded Ubuntu and installed XBMC.

Sorry i'm still stuck still searching
is this the answer to my problem?
Quote:1. Entered the linux command line by pressing Crtl+Alt+F3 from the XBMC Live main menu

2. Login with XBMCLive login. (You set this upon setting up)

3. type sudo nano /boot/grub/menu.lst

4. Enter password again

5. You will now see the menu.lst file. Press Ctrl+W to search, and enter nodiskmount

6. The first entry will not be needed, as it is nodiskm$. Press Ctrl+W again and then Enter to search again.

7. Now this is when it got confusing for a sec for me. Mine found two more nodiskmounts in the list. but when I looked above the nodiskmount entry, I saw that it was the listing you find in the boot menu where you can change what OS you want to boot into (Am I correct in assuming that is the GRUB menu). Mine looked like this:
Title Ubuntu 9.10, kernel 2.6.31-16-generic
uuid 1f47f302-etc
Kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-16-generic root=UUID=1f47f302-239f etc nodiskmount

8. remove this "nodiskmount," (you can also change the title, I changed mine to XBMC Live)

9. Press Ctrl+O and then Enter

10. Now press ctrl+alt+del to restart and go back into xbmc and go to videos

11. Go to Add Source and then Browse

I'm getting a similiar problem.

My acer revo refuses to acknowledge my SD card.
Try SD card in pc - works no problem.
Try SD card at boot - sees it is there.
Try SD card when XBMC is running (open elec) and nothing at all.
