Ultimately it's going to be about how clean you want everything. What you have there will work obviously but you'd have to do some serious work to your case to get those to mount cleanly. There are lots of diagrams on the internet if you're comfortable with a soldering iron. If not, there are both aftermarket options and a few people who will do the assembly for you.
If you decide to do it yourself, you can do it by breaking down some usb items or a few other pieces of equipment. Otherwise, a few people sell usb boards that they've designed essentially for this job.

I haven't seen it, but i don't doubt it exists. If you want to add wireless to an original controller, i can think of a few ways to skin that cat.
