Hello,

I'm a linux newbie, so just bear with me.

I've just installed XBMC on a hard drive, using the 10.1 Dharma Live CD.

Everything would be dandy, but after the installation I can see the boot splash logo, but all I get is the command line that kind of "flips" off and on. It happens about every 10 seconds. It didn't happen during the installation nor it happens when the boot splash is loading. XBMC doesn't start automatically...

I can log in, but when I try running xbmc with
Code:
runXBMC

I get:
Code:
initctl: Rejected send message , 1 matched rules: type="method_call", sender=":X.XXX" (uid=1000 pid=YYYY comm="initctl) interface="com.ubunto.Upstart0_6" member="EmitEvent" error name="(unset)" requires ted_reply=0 destitation="com.ubuntu.Upstart" (uid=0 pid=1 comm="/sbin/init"))
That just appears line by line, where X.XXX is some consecutive number and YYYY is some process ID..

I'm not sure what it means though as I wasn't able to find much information...

When I run
Code:
xbmc
All I get is

Code:
Error: unable to open display
FEH.py: cannot connect to X server

The hardware I have:
Nvidia G520 Video
Intel Dual Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz
Evga 680i Motherboard
2 Gb Ram
1 TB HDD

Installed Linux version is 2.6.32-29-generic

I hope this helps. I've looked all around and I couldn't find much information regarding this.

Thanks for your help!

edit: forgot to add - same thing happens when the system is just booted of the Live CD.
