XBMC Nightlies Crashing on 1080p Playback
#91
It's the first thing I'm trying, as soon as I get back home. Fingers crossed -- just thinking beyond that, in case it doesn't resolve.

Tried a different skin that may be less resource intensive than confluence, but still a no-go. booo!

Will play around in settings see if I can turn stuff off, but really just trial an error. Sigh

xbmc.log

i have nothing installed execpt nitoTV, syslog, XBMC and updatebegone.

Maetrik -- for a n00b, how did you get this memory thing? I'd like to see what mine's running at.

Is this from the ATV or something else?

First you need to install Top if you don't have it installed.

apt-get install top

Then just type Top at the command prompt and you will see what Maetrik showed.

Thanks.

As a test, Maetrik, is it still possible to install 4.1.1? I've never tried to install anything that is no longer being signed.

Curious to see if downgrading ATV will free up some memory?

Ignore. Googled and answered my own question. Wow, so stupid I can't downgrade (no SHSH things.)

Ah well -- my hopes are with the devs!

http://iphoneunlockprogram.com/the-only-...hone-ios4/ ... nobody tested this before ... so no clue if it bricks your atv2 ... but just to point you to a possible "outside of xbmc" solution

hmmm. Well if I brick I can always re-jailbreak, right? That's becoming a weekly occurence!

This guy says it's tested on iPhone, iPod, iPad -- how similar is the software between them and ATV?

Thinks there's a snowball's chance in hell it will work? :-)

Sorry for the late response, but here is my syslog. I only copied everything from 08-12 (same day as xbmc.log). I've no firecore or vnc server installed.

Ai, shit! Uhm, why is it that some 1080p are playing, and some are not? As far as I know, there is no way yet to fix this, right? Any ideas that I can try?

Wow... I have the files, but I have no idea how to do this with the software he talks about accessing via Cydia (I'm generally good with computers, but not with SSH/etc), but I don't want to hijack my own thread with talk of this thing...

If anyone else who is better with this crap wants to talk me through how to do this on an ATV, send me a PM and we'll see what we can do. I'm willing to be the guinnea pig!

Any reason the nightly installation instruction now only points to the 12/10 version and does not include a link to the folder with the latest stuff?

Was hoping to keep testing in the hope that I'd get lucky and get a nightly without a crash -- slim a possibility as that may be! :-)
