Separate NAS and HTPC builds.

Hello,

I would like to part out and peice together parts an HTPC. I want it to be decoupled from my storage so that I can ideally replace/upgrade each system independent of the other.

Current Network setup:
ds212j (2 bay diskless nas - waiting for 3TB HDD prices to be reasonable)
cisco e3000 (wireless-n, 2.4/5ghz bands, gigabit)
xbox running xbmc Sad

key:
(blue = already purchased)
(orange= considering purchase)

My must-haves in a HTPC
Mini-ITX mobo/case.
Quick boot.
1080p/HD Netflix/Hulu, etc.

My budget: $300

case- might go with a Perspex case, ~90w pico psu
motherboard- fm1 mini itx
cpu- A8-3800 or A6-3600, or wait for trinity.
ram - ~$35 - Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1600 CL8
or
ram - ~$28 - 2 x AMD Entertainment Edition 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 1600 CL9
storage/boot - $41 (AR SIC)Patriot Torqx 2 32GB SATA II SSD

Remaining budget: $224

Hoping for good deals to fit my budget Smile

I've read them, and I have some idea of what I want.

My main question I suppose is how can I verify that some of the devices you have listed, would support the idle-drive spindown, and also for myself to keep a low wattage.

for now I'm a group #4, btw.

cheers

unRAID is meant for spinning up only needed drives...
if u dont listen/watch any media thats on your unRAID machine,
no drives will spin....

and if your going with a pre-built HTPC,
i suggest the famous ZOTAC ND22 which has the CELERON SU2300 DUAL-CORE...

and if your building it yourself, i suggest you a miniITX build...
