I'm really just wanting to create my own .nfo files based on a "blank" version of the example posted in the wiki.
So far, to my understanding, one needs a program to write a ".nfo" file?
I've installed mediainfo and it didn't give me an export button!!!
not sure what to do?

ops... sorry, I use Smultron for editing XBMC .xml files...
For the .nfo files I also use the texedit on Mac as pseudo7 explained..

thanks. but I tried saving as .nfo and there was no option?
*edit*
for future reference:
copy and paste .nfo from wiki section (based on movie, tv show, etc..) into text edit.
delete all arbitrary info in between >"arbitrary"<.
In textedit: format --> make plain text. or (shift + cmmd + p)
save as: blank.nfo
for those of us that have never used text edit!!

If your using this for movies, you might want to try ViMM - see my signature.

Yes. Thank you to both of you that pointed that out. That is a wonderful application!
Still, my reference should help in regards to making custom .nfo for us newbs.
or like in my example.. Some of the artwork Vi finds is awesome.. but not the exact same as the case I own.. I'd rather go in and tidy that up manually in those "cases" (pun?).
