dudes, as promised, have taken a look at the keymap.xml and created:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Keyboard.xml

basically this is keymap.xml without some lines of dust concerning releases prior 9.11 and stuff like that...but most things are still uptodate and correct!
also changed all usertables to wikitables Laugh

To be honest, I would change them on every page Shocked
They look much better...

BTW: Also edited the references to keymap.xml to keyboard.xml in the articles "global keyboard" and "userdata"...will see if there are more to change...

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Lis..._Functions (Also added a builtin-function that was missing--->VideoLibrary.Search)
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Ope...nd_Dialogs

Nice work mad max!

Yeah, that XBMC youtube video channel would be awesome - especially as XBMC has a google+ account so I would be part of the same account?

keymap.xml now redirects to Keyboard.xml, but feel free to update the links directly.

I'll pass on the suggestion about a youtube channel to the others. We should also be able to embed youtube videos directly onto pages as well. I'll look into it.

Keep up the great work, guys!

That would be a nice feature, embedded videos...that would avoid uploading and linking dozens of screenshots in order to explain a step that takes a few seconds

I may hold fire on uploading pictures, I think videos make more sense and the user can pause when they want.
Hmm...

It would be nice to have both, since people can (in theory) take content form the wiki to make a printed manual, and it would mean we would always have a copy of all the content on our side. It also depends on what's being illustrated.

In any case, the wiki extension is installed and configured, but seems the documentation on it didn't mention that it requires MediaWiki 1.18, which right now isn't a final release but at RC1. I'm debating using a different extension, using MW 1.18 RC1, or just waiting for the final release of MW 1.18 (next few days maybe? RC1 came out Nov 18th).

Soon though, soon.

Fair enough, let us know what happens on the XBMC youtube page - i'd rather link to those videos rather than my own account so people know where to go for further videos.

edit:
Another page updated (cos I like keeping this thread prominent in the forum so I post my changes here - tell me to stop if I shouldn't be)
The top of the page did say to make it more of a general hub, so I took that as how to install add-ons, repositories get rid of info (not links) to non add-on stuff - such as scripts. Though I haven't merged it with add-on manager.

Before

After

MediaWiki 1.18 came out yesterday. I just have to wait for someone with enough server access to wake up and we can update, which will give us the ability to embed youtube videos.

Hey Ned, had a quick google but came up with nothing. If you have the time could you post an example of what code to add to embed a youtube video.

Cheers!

It's not enabled yet. I was going to ask for help with the wiki upgrade, but at the time everyone was deep in technical talk about stuff for Eden, so I didn't want to impose.

I haven't actually used this mediawiki extension before, but basically what happens is certain users (by default, everyone) have the ability to associate a youtube (or video from a list of other services) with a name on the wiki. You give it a url and it gives you a file name like Video:Video name (wiki), which is also how you embed it. It's kind of like uploading an image, except nothing is uploaded.

The documentation and help page for the extension is at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Video and will give you a basic idea of what can be done with it.
