This is probably a stupid question, which is why i can't find the answer to it.

If i have XBMC (dharma release) installed on windows and i want to "upgrade" it to a GIT version i have built myself is it simply a case of swapping the xbmc.exe files around?
Similarly, if i don't like the GIT version or there is something wrong with it then can i just plonk the original exe back in?

Is it likely to mess anything up?

it's not just swapping exe files. look into running in portable mode, install the git ver to a different directory, then run that in portable mode. that way it won't stuff up the dharma install at all.
