i'm putting together an appletv2 with xbmc for my brother in law for xmas, but somehow, during configuring everything and updating the library with all the movie covers etc. i have disabled the file view and i can't seem to get it back via the gui.

i've tried looking for a way to do if via manually editing files, but i can't find what i need to do and can't see any other way of disabling the library mode.

i'm sure there used to be a simple button to disable it, but i can't find one anywhere on the appletv version of xbmc. Sad

is there a file i can edit to force xbmc to always use file mode?

thanks. Smile

also, i keep getting a message that it "can't connect to the network" when trying to update the library and when i'm trying to update 1200+ movies, it's getting very tedious.

i have it connected via ethernet to 100mbps cable broadband and the connection is rock solid, so i'm not sure what the problem is.

i have my own library with all the movie info already filled out on my windows xbmc build, and about 80% of those movies are going to be present on my brother in laws library, so is there a way to copy my library files to his appletv2 to save downloading everything again?

thanks, but where do i find that? i've been going through every menu i can think of and i'm not seeing it. either that or i'm missing it and going crazy. Sad

also, i DO want the scrapers, I just don't want to use the library mode as i prefer the files mode for navigation.

For your connection errors, we need your xbmc.log file.

thanks Ned, i've enabled debugging and restarted xbmc and it's updating the library now and just lost connectivity after a few minutes.

i've been running a continuous ping from another pc on the same LAN out to a couple of websites and i can confirm there was no break in connectivity with my internet connection.

here is the log anyway, hopefully it is of help: http://pastebin.com/HNJfRT5c

thanks Ned, that seems to have fixed the connectivity issues.

now i just need to figure out how to stop the "videos" option on the home screen launching the library automatically.

even when i go into the "files" sub option from video's it goes straight into library mode and i can't find the setting mentioned above anywhere to try and stop it. Sad

thanks again for your help.

I have the same problem. Any help would be great guys.

My specific issue:

  1. I havent used my ATV2 in 6 months so I updated to the latest nightly and now I cant seem to get the same UI that I used to get for my video files. They are only lists now, no plot nothing
  2. I cant seem to find the Enable/Disable video button you are talking about
  3. I've tried connecting to SMB and FTP thinking it was a connecting issue
  4. When I click update Library nothing really happens and when I click clean Library nothing does either
  5. I tried restoring to my previous userdatabase folder from back when it was working good but that didnt seem to change anything either

Thank you for all the help guys!

Turned out to be a issue with the way I was sharing my folders. It was not giving it proper access. Thank you for the response
