I think I ended up very close to the components you'd for your new build (I called it eskro/beer influence....)

Case: Antec ISK 100 (reusing old case, will see how tight it fits)
APU: AMD A6-3500
Mobo: ASRock A75M-ITX
Memory: 2G Corsair XMS 1600 (have some lying around)
SSD: Patriot Torqx 2 32GB
CPU Cooler: Scythe BIG Shuriken 2

will be running openelec.

Unfortunately, these two don't go a long well.....you might want to consider adding this "ASUS GT520-1GD3-CSM GeForce GT 520".....

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Hmm is there some known issue with openelec and a6? I've read people's thread running A6/A8 in the openelec forum I assume it's straightforward install (like my zacate).

For OpenElec, Nvidia is easier than AMD. Most users choose A6 and A8 for Windows 7 to enjoy Netflix, bitstreaming, etc. But you can give it a shot with OpenElec......

Yes, I heard a lot of good things about E350+Openelec but I have not hear much on other APU.......if you need W7, I bought this "Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Full" for my daughter. It is branded as Dell, but it work fine with Sony laptop.....for $67, it come with disc and key...!
