Yes, I think so, this is only my reaction on suggestion of user "flymods". And there is my first question: "Is possible output sound thru HDMI and simultaneously thru optical output? I have receiver only with optical input and want connect HTPC to receiver thru optical and HTPC to TV thru HDMI. Sometimes I will want sound from receiver (i power on receiver and mute TV) and sometimes is sound from TV sufficient (i leave receiver power off). Is it possible without changing settings in XBMC (because it is not convenient for my wife and child)?" I want connect both (optical output from HTPC directly to optical input of AVR and HDMI output from HTPC to HDTV) and set in XBMC audio output to both output (optical and HDMI), and my question is if it is possible...

Is possible link switching of audio output to some button on remote control?

I'm currently in the process of doing the research figuring out exactly what I'll be ordering for my htpc build. Currently I'm stationed overseas and there are no decent computer shops (for parts) near by. To make matters worse, Newegg and amazon will not ship to my APO address. That leaves me with Tiger Direct as the only other online company that I trust and enjoy. Problem is Tiger Direct does not carry any of the AsRock mobos. I'm currently trying to choose between the following two:
ASUS F1A75-M Pro/CSM AMD A Series Motherboard - Micro ATX, Socket FM1, AMD A75 Chipset, 2250MHz DDR3 (O.C.) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...CatId=7241 And BIOSTAR TA75M+ AMD A Series Motherboard - Micro ATX, Socket FM1, AMD A75 Chipset, 2000MHz DDR3 (O.C.) http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/...CatId=7243 Both look quite decent to me, but I'm wondering if anyone has any extra opinions on them? There's a $19 difference in price, but I'm certainly willing to throw down extra money if it's worth it. These will be paired with the AMD A8-3870K APU. My other question would be with RAM. In general is it better to go with more capacity at a lesser speed or vise versa? For example; CORSAIR DOMINATOR GT 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 runs for $109.99. Whereas Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x 4GB), PC3-12800, DDR3-1600MHz, Unbuffered runs for $49.99. That is a huge difference in price. So what's the best bang for the buck? Thanks for any insight you may have. |
