Thanks!

Hi guys. First of all thank you for this amazing review and HTPC combo, is really amazing and I'm trying to build it up... I live outside USA and the cost of shipping is in pounds (I live in Dominican Republic and it's a little expensive). My problem is with the Case and the Power Supply (Too heavy) and i was looking for some of them on my country, i've found a Case that meets my wishes:
Linkworld Electronic Home Theater Media PC Case it's 40 Dollars here.
I want to know if this Power Supply would work just fine in this HTPC:
Cooler Master RS550-PCARE3-US eXtreme Power Plus 550W it's 64 Dollars here.

This is the only part missing to assemble my HTPC, waiting for answers and thanks in advance Blush

The ML03B case looks really nice, but I can't find a way to plug in the USB 3.0 connector to the ASRock A75M USB header. It looks like the motherboard only has USB 2.0 headers. Any idea, or am I missing anything?
Unfortunately, ASRock places all four USB 3.0 ports on the A75M's rear panel.......

You'll need this "ASUS F1A75-M LE - Motherboard - micro ATX - Socket FM1 - AMD A75 - USB 3.0 - Gigabit Ethernet" to use front USB 3.0....

I was in the market for a new HTPC, and I came across this thread and decided to go with this build.

I'm not an expert with computer installation, and so I didn't bother to look into the fine details of all the parts, and confirm that everything was compatible with each other.

Well, I hit the same roadblock as jubei (quoted above) and so I came here to find out that the recommended motherboard doesn't support the inputs located on the front of the case.

How come this isn't mentioned in the OP? Angry

So am I supposed to use the adapter that came with the case, that becomes a smaller USB connector?

You can use this adapter "StarTech.com PEXUSB3S2E2I 4 Port USB 3.0 PCI Express PCIe Controller Card".....

>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Now that I'm up and running, I'm extremely happy with this machine. I don't care about the 3.0 USB on the front panel anymore Smile

just signed up to say thanks for the excellent guides. I opted for this build but with an antec 2480 case and I'm very happy with it.

Stock cooler is a bit loud but will be replacing that with Scythe Katana 4 next payday ... same time as I get my SSD ;-)

Thanks again for all your work, really didn't know where to start when I first decided to do a htpc build and it's helped me out no end. And to think I was so close to buying a zotan!

Can anyone say if it's possible or makes sense to use an old pc case and power supply for building an htpc? I have an old HP Pavilion AMD Athlon a1710n and wanted to see about at least re-using the case, cd/dvd drive, and psu? Anyone have opinions on this? My plan is to basically put in the exact cpu and motherboard from this thread. Let me know what anyone thinks?

Is anyone in here successfully outputting anything besides LPCM over HDMI on Windows 8 with the A8-3850?

I've tried both the win8 preview drivers and win7 drivers, but I can't output Dolby/DTS. Receiver definitely supports it - Onkyo NR717

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

New egg is currently having a sale on the AMD A8-3870K. Is it worth upgrading to this?
