[Micro-ATX] A6-3500 (3x2.1Ghz/2.4Ghz) + HD6530D

TeKo Wrote:page is down atm.

Iam not 100% sure but I think Asrock CIR only works with their Smart Remote and only with front USB (CIR is next to internal USB and you have to take pins from usb and from CIR).
No, the A75M I enclosed will work w/ MCE IR/Remote when connect to one of the USB in the rear panel. The front AsRock USB CIR option will work with other CIR option too, and here is one option- Inteset IR Receiver.

with these AsRock header options:

Inteset "Gnd" (black wire) to ASrock Cir "Gnd" pin
Inteset "LED" (Grey wire) to Asrock Cir "IRtx" pin
Inteset "NC" (White Wire) is unused fold back and isolate with electrical tape.
Inteset "Learn-In" (Yellow Wire) is unused fold back and isolate with electrical tape.
Inteset "5v-Standby" (Red wire) to Asrock "ATX+5Vsb" pin
Inteset "Vcc" (Orange/Brownish Wire) to Asrock "USB Power" pin
Inteset "CIR Input" (Green Wire) to Asrock "IRrx" pin

Ok thanks its just really confusing because they write nothing about this on their page and its hard to find anything with google about that.

So I just get the Asrock board + any MCE Remote USB IR.

@henrikyo: Where do you live that you cant get Asrock?

It may not list by retailer, but all the info can be found on AsRock website- AsRock A75M. You'll be very happy with A75M and it's cheaper than Asus mobo too! Smile

and here is the thread for inteset- Interset CIR receiver with ASRock motherboard?

user Balinus was the first to tell us that the ASROCK CIR wasnt even needed
to PowerON his machine HTPC from a total OFF state...

of course, buying the ASROCK SMART REMOTE WITH CIR Receiver will work,
but he discovered you can do this too without it.

so from there, that why we know such a thing.
if not, for other motherboards, unless we actually try them,
we dont know.

however, the motherboards that dont support the PowerON feature,
can still be paired with something like a ANTEC VERIS BASIC receiver
and have their HTPC PowerON from total off state.

again, this is written on my HTPC guide.

If you have any question on Inteset CIR, you refer to their forum- Interset CIR receiver with ASRock motherboard?.

I like the look of this particular build, first I've seen of these A6/A8 processors - from what I understand they play everything from HD audio to 3D 1080P? Think I can replicate this build from the UK quite easily, just need a little help with the PSU?

A6-3500 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005I2YL4G/re...B005I2YL4G

AsRock A75M - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0058HBNY2/re...B0058HBNY2

Silverstone ML03 - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/silversto...e+shopping

Can't find the stated PSU for sale over here, and read a few concerns about size etc - is there a recommended PSU that is available for sale in the UK?

Also, it seems you have to use Windows, OpenELEC is not an option? That is a shame, but no big worry. I would just use an SSD to boot, as all my media is stored on an unRAID system Smile

Thank you very much - and what I said about the capabilities of the build are correct? 3D etc?

And would this case/PSU be sufficient? Or would you suggest going for the ITX version of the MOBO in this case to allow a 120mm fan?

The case in your link should be perfect for A6-3500 build! Smile

I thought about buying that case too but the PSU seems to suck and I read that the IR isnt fully compatible to other MCE remotes (maybe problems with harmony) also the build quality isnt as good as silverstone for example so I just got a Milo case.

the A6-3500 will just do it all without a hitch!!

if you do go with the Novatech Vision Media Centre Case to save some money,
all i can say is the 250W PSU it has will suffice....

however, like TeKo said,
the build quality probably wont be top noch.

and the built-in PSU, i cant say...
most likely to be crappy....
maybe noisy,,,

OK based on what you've all said in this thread I have ordered the AMD A6-3500, ASRock A75M and 4GB of Kingston 1600MHz RAM. For the case, I think I am steering towards the Milo again - I think I'm right in saying these two will work well together?

And I'm not spending too much on the PSU? Would like to keep cost as low as possible (as does everyone I'm sure! Big Grin)
