[Mini-ITX] A6-3600 (4x2.1Ghz/2.4Ghz) + HD6530D
(2012-04-25, 19:11)eskro Wrote: yeah man!!! keep us up2date and show us some screenies!!

Hi all,

I would love to... but something is wrong... Confused

I just plugged everything together. I hope I did it all in the right way. The manual from the ISK is more than poor I think.

When I turn it on both fans start working but then nothing further happens. Then it sounds like the CPU fan is getting on and off again the whole time. Almost looks like it's not getting enough power.
When I plugged everything together and start the PC actually the BIOS should show up, shouldn't it? Monitor is plug into the VGA port.

Remember I have the
- AMD A8-3650 (100W) APU with stock fan.
- Antec ISK300-65
- Corsair 2x4GB 1.5V RAM

I bought this universal brick here: http://www.ricardo.ch/kaufen/computer-un...675958298/

Unfortunately the page is in german but I translate for you the important parts:

- with 8 Adapters perfect for almost all Notebooks
- Output: 15V /16V /18V /19V /20V /22V /24V max. 120W
When 15V /16V /18V /19V /20V at max. 6A mp;
When 22V /24V at max. 5A mp;
USB port: max.5V @2A mp
- Plugs:
A. 6.5*4.4 mm
B. 6.3*3.0 mm
C. 5.5*2.5 mm (used this one)
D. 5.5*2.1 mm
E. 5.5*1.7 mm
F. 4.8*1.7 mm
G. 4.0*1.7 mm
H. 5.3*3.0 mm

apart from that the brick has a horrible loud fan inside Sad

I also tryed it with the stock brick, but same result.

I hope I didn't destroy something now.

Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Jarjar

PS. By the way... the ASRock manual says
Image

is there a
Chassis Speaker
Chassis Fan Cable

after all? If yes, I didn't find it.

stock brick not strong enough...
65w brick for a 100w CPU is a no go!!
never try that!

and in general, i think u got a wrong universal power brick.

eskro, thank you...

Okay, found a brick here...
But I acutally don't wanna say the price. It's embarassing... Okay, just for your information what something like this costs here... It was around 120 $
Oh well, this is Switzerland.

And I hope this one works now...
It's a 125W brick with 6.5A 19V with 5.5x2.5mm plug.

If it doesn't do the job I can return it.

Okay...

Now I am at the end of my knowledge (which is not really great). My new above mentioned brick does not work either. Same result. No picture or BIOS on my display. CPU fan turns on and off.

On the package it says the following:

Max. Current
Voltage Output Continuous use Peak
5V (USB) 0,50 A 0,50 A
12V 6,50 A 10,40 A
14V 6,00 A 8,90 A
15V 6,00 A 8,30 A
16V 6,00 A 7,80 A
18V 6,00 A 6,90 A
18,5V 5,75 A 6,70 A
19V 5,75 A 6,50 A [/b]
19,5V 5,50 A 6,40 A
20V . .
21V . .
22V . .

Do I need a brick that has a continuous use of 6,3 A at least at 19V ? Is Peak of 6,5 A at 19V not enough for my set up?

Or did I plug something together in a wrong way? But then the result would not be like this, would it?
Would it help if I upload a video on how it behaves?

Please heeeeelp!!!! I am here with an HTPC and I can't use it.

Thank you.

your 125W / 6.5A / 19V brick should work.

i dunno, maybe u forgot to plug something from PSU...

did u plug your 4pin CPU connector?

@eskro

As I mentioned above the brick does only 5,75 A continuously at 19V. Peak is 6,5 A at 19V. Isn't this the problem? Shouldn't it do at least 6,3 A continuously?

Yes I plugged the 4pin CPU connector. You are talking about the CPU_fan1 connector right?
If I didn't the CPU fan wouldn't move at all I guess?

What is the ATX 12V power connector? Does it need to be plugged in?
Because when I don't plug it in and start the PC then the fan does not turn on and off anymore. Then it seems to run contiuously. But still no movement on my display I attached on the VGA port.

Any idea?

the PSU of ISK300-65 case needs a 19v brick.
since thats what u have, then, important part is to
have also at least 100w since your PSU is 100w TDP..
so you have a125w power brick so its good!

yes if not plugged correctly your PSU fan wouldnt run at all...

u bought the A75M-ITX motherboard?

Yes I bought the A75M-ITX mobo.

What is this 4-Pin ATX 12V power connector for? Does it need to be plugged in?

Sorry to read all your troubles......

You might need something stronger as this "picoPSU-150-XT + 150W Adapter Power Kit" to power your A8-3850.....

I don't like to build PC with under/over power PSU.....I preferred the CPU TDP to be at 50% to 70% of the PSU spec....
>Alienware X51- do it all HTPC
>Simplify XBMC configurations
>HOW-TO Bitstreaming using XBMC
I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

Beer40's 90w brick works mint with his 65w TDP APU.

and heck he's even using his 65w brick as we speak!!

i dont get why his wouldnt work.

i mean, even the ISK110 and its 80w PSU works with the A6-3500...

and i saw a thread with a working 120w brick for the ISK300-65
when using the 100w TDP APU.

i'll try to relocate it.

I just uploaded a video with my setup and it's behaviour...
Hope you might see the problem.

Can I do anything else?

Hi bluray,

thanks for trying to help. I have bought the Antec 300-65 case which supports only up to 135 W of power as eskro stated in another thread. I suppose I cannot just plug a more powerful brick in there. I probably would crash the case's powerchip or so?

Apart from that... instead of buying a 150W brick I could just buy the Antec300-150 in the first place... that would probably give me no trouble now. Only if I had crashed something already... Undecided

greets
