[Mini-ITX] A6-3600 (4x2.1Ghz/2.4Ghz) + HD6530D

Hellcat Wrote:Not a lot of FM1 mobos for ITX out there. Posts for ASRock A75M raise some concerns (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...0A75%20itx). Maybe a better ITX mobo out there like Gigabyte or Asus? Anybody got a suggestion?

Hellcat,

I've been using this mobo for three weeks now. No problems whatsoever.

Like you I tend to look at the products on Newegg with the most reviews and buy accordingly. But, I think we need to take the reviews for what they are, someone's opinion of a product. For every bad review on Newegg there may be 10 people who are extremely happy with said product, they just have not submitted a review.

Like I said, I've got it and it's working brilliantly. Also, I'm using Kingston HyperX Blu memory:

It's cheap and it works. Hope this helps you out.

So Ive been researching a build to replace my revo and want to base it on post#1. It has to be able to playback 1080 with bitstreaming and have a blu ray drive. Can anyone confirm the following will work together for ubuntu (and the psu will cope):

Case: Antec ISK310-150
Mobo: AsRock A75M-ITX
CPU: AMD Llano A6-3500
Cooler: Scythe Kozuti Low Profile CPU Cooler : SCKZT-1000
RAM: 2 * KVR1333D3N9/4G = 8gb

Other questions:
Could I run Ubuntu off a patriot XT usb flash drive?
What blu ray drive do people recommend.

Thanks

Popular blu-ray half height dive is http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-UJ240-Bl...833&sr=1-1. Sony also has one, but have not seen much feedback on it.

As for full height, I like the Sony, but Samsung and LG are more popular. See http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6827136232

Thanks YOUNG13. You're probably right about the many positive experiences that do not get reported as readily as the negative. But it's sure nice to not see many negative reports on balance. I'm sure the odds are very high that an ASRock board you get will work fine. While I will be using an ASRock board for the first time, I've only once had a problem early on with a mobo out of the dozens I've used from at least 5 or 6 different manufacurers. Problems I do usually see have only shown up after many years of intense use.

How did you select your Kingston DD3?

im going with 2x 4gb kingston ddr3 pc1333. the reason for 8gb is this will be my development/experiment htpc. other brands that are available here are mushkin and corsair.

the problem is, only geil and patriot model are listed. does this means that kingston is a risky choice. there are kingston model listed, but with different spec.

are there any benefits if i go with higher spec ram(pc1600+) when paired with a6 3500?

any advice is appreciated.

It may be useful to also look at the memory manufacturers web site as they usually have information on matching memory. I'm looking for memory best matched to an ASRock A75M microATX mobo with AMD A8-3850 (not over clocking). I'll let you know what I determine. As for benefits with higher specs (speed and timing), I think it probably just depends on what you plan to do beyond just streaming media, like gaming.

I'm shopping around for an FM1 board. I personally love my ASRock Z68 board, but I've been reading a lot of negative reviews about people having trouble with HDMI on their ASRock FM1 boards. Some of their boards are configured to use PCIe graphics by default, so they get no video unless they first install a PCIe GPU and change the setting. Others are just having no luck getting HDMI to work at all.

I usually take customer reviews with a grain of salt, but there's a lot of reviews on Newegg with people having these problems.

Well here is memory matching for Kingston http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search/options/ and for G. Skill http://www.gskill.com/configurator.php

I'm sure the other manufacturers have this tool. Very helpful, but you have to play around on newegg to find as model numbers may not match exactly. Just use name and look for the same specs.

Yes, I've seen these comments. I figure the work around isn't a big deal for me as I have spare PCIe graphics card I can use to get BIOS configured. I suspect bigger problems are rare and only with initial configuration. So if you do have more serious problem you can always send board back to newegg.

All my ordered Hardware was delivered today and I installed XBMC Live.
- Kingston SSDNow S100 - Solid-State-Disk - 16 GB SS100S2
- Kingston HyperX, 2x2GB, DDR3-1600, [email protected]
- ASRock A75M-ITX
- AMD A6-3500 3x 2.10GHz, Llano, 65W, Box, Integrated Radeon HD 6530D GPU

At first for all maybe interesting, I got problems to boot with the SSD, I need to configure in BIOS>Storage Configuration:
SATA Controler, Enabled
SATA IDE Combined Mode, Disabled
SATA Mode, AHCI Mode

Okay my problem now, after loading XBMC the menu is laggy, slow and the reaction from my mouse and keyboard is very slow?
Why?
I didn't make any configuration, all settings are default after fresh installation.
My Motherboard is connected to Analog Monitor, after configuration I would like with HDMI to my LCD-TV.

I hope somebody can help me. Please.
Thank you very much.

Assume you bought Kingston HyperX KHX1333C7D3K2/4GX that Kingston matches to that board (http://www.kingston.com/us/memory/search...el=73922)?
