for me, BEST = powerful enough for win7+XBMC to be %110 fluid
It meet your needs, but it doesn't mean that it is the best.....oh, I love to have the extra cores when converting or editing blu-ray.....just a thought!

I refused to watch movie without bitstreaming HD audio!

well, depends on how much u paid for the A6 3600 ,,,
i know the A6 3500 is $80...
I paid $167 total for the a3600 + 8gb ram.

Amazon currently has a6-3500 for $70, and I could get 4gb ram for $30. So I'd save more than $65.

I'm only using this computer for watching 720p movies. If you're saying I will not notice the difference between the 3600+8gb setup and the 3500+4gb, I might return those components and save some cash.

Actually, the best APU on the market is A8-3870K (3.0GHz+HD6550D)......Tongue

+1

It's all about what's fit for purpose and a6 3500 delivers exactly what is required for my needs (to play any 1080p content seamlessly whilst handling aeon with great fan art) and all at a cost effective price! Another +1

Ok, this my last "last question."

If price were not an issue at all, are there any qualities that make the 3500 better than the 3600? Less power, cooler temps, etc? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is: Is the 3500 better than the 3600 on only a cost/benefit basis? Besides being out an extra $35, is there any disadvantage to using the 3600 over the 3500?

Thanks again.

You almost answer your own question...as far as which APU is better, the A6-3600 is better than A6-3500.....

The a6 3500 is 65w were as a6 3600 is 100w, as blurb states a6 3600 is a quad core rather than triple so you will get better performance ya ya ya there are no real disadvantage except price and power usage but it depends what your using it for ? I was going to go for the 3600 but was swayed by Eskro and the 3500 does the job for me nicely.

How does this compare to an i3 with nVidia graphics? I've seen benchmarks and it seems pretty even.

I believe the 3600 is also 65w, no?

Please get the fact straight- AMD Accelerated Processors for Desktop PCs....A6-3600 is 65w and A6-3650/A6-3670K are 100w!

Of course, i3 with discrete GPU equivalence to HD6530D is much better than AMD APU!
