I like Android, and I can't wait for an Android version of XBMC, but please kindly pull your head out of your rump.
To everyone, the work being done for iOS is work that affects all ARM-powered devices, including Android. Everything from supporting the ARM processor, Open GLES, multitouch support, the tons and tons of optimization, and a lot of ther techincal details that are over my head, all benefit future projects. These ARM and embedded systems appear to be the wave of the future for media centers, and XBMC will be there.
Excuse me mate! but before you and others shoot off about the price of ATV2 which I'm fully aware of and tell me to get my head outa my rump - this thread was regarding tablets.
iPads maybe cheap in the US but its a £400 - £500 device in the UK minus the hardware to connect anything to it including the TV.. maybe chick feed to you but not me and I'm not really up for joining the borg.
Spiff kindly made me aware of his stance so there's no need for belittling comments or rudeness.

If you look close at how XBMC for Mac works, it also starts up in obj-c and xbmc's c/c++ gets 'wrapped' around that. Once the startup wrapping happends, iOS and OSX are pretty much the same except for GL vs GLES handling.
