I have gathered most of my hardware for the new HTPC.
I plan on running XBMC on Windows. The Remote I haven't settled on yet.
Should I go with a ir and remote or take the plunge and go with a IR receiver and Harmony and link everything together? I've read a number of threads on different remotes and their pros and cons. I am not going to try a power up solution. Just control over XBMC and powering down windows. I was thinking a wireless pointer mouse could also fill the void?

And I am myself very content with my Harmony 700, which replaced a failed Harmony One. In my opinion, the 700 is better in almost all aspects.

So if I wanted to use a CE tablet, how to I set up an interface for controlling XBMC? Is there already some kind control frontend that I would just DL onto the tablet?
Also do all the tablets have wi-fi access?

Before You purchase a tablet make sure you either have built in wifi or it comes with a pcmcia card.
As far as interface thats an easy part. There are a couple of addons for the nokia which work but if you want the one I built I can post a dl for it. It wont have all the camera and other options but it will control XBMC no problem.
Its as easy as going into your XBMC addon and installing a zipped file. Once that is done you go into the system network setting and choose the new webinterface.
On the tablet open IE and goto the ip of your XBMC and that's it.

Ahhh, so you use a browser to control it? OK.
I would be grateful if you could post the interface you created, as I really like the idea of going this route.
Makes sense on the wireless too.

TY TY I know huh, Browser control absolutely. You know what Wireless I believe is the way to go, too many XBMC users with IR or RF issues.
Another thing is if you have more than one XBMC box its easy to control with the same tablet.
I am going to post the addon but understand its designed to work on the V210's 800x600 resolution it fits perfectly.
I am working on one for the IPAQ 3630 I picked up at a swap meet for 10 bucks and has wifi lol. My idea was to use this for people who come over and hang out.

Well the range is one of the biggest pluses. Can control the PC from across the street if I want to. How awesome.
Also it would seem that you're no longer limited to only what the remote can display. I mean you can create as many buttons, etc. as you want with a html interface.
You just got me all excited now. I just ordered a standard MCE remote and IR controller. I am probably going to have to return it now.
