Looks like you didn't have installed a xbmc version before?!? Please install the cydia version (e.x. by using nitotv) and then just run the command with the id3test.deb. When it hangs on removing the cydia version during that process - hit ctrl+c - as it should be mentioned in the nightlys FAQ already.

I had cydia's version before since i use nightlies from the very beginning and they need to have a cydia version installed if i'm right. I also reinstalled Cydia version right now and then your deb but same error? When upgrading all within nitoTV it says "org.xbmc.xbmc-ios Depends: org.xbmc.xbmc-iconpack but it is not installable. try using -f

when trying -f:

AppleTV-S:~ root# apt-get -f install

I have the same problem like with your nfs fixed deb the other day. Install works on ATV, but crashes immediatly back to frontrow when starting.

On iPad everything is working now. No crashes, so seems to be fixed. Reinstalled current nightly on iPad again to make sure the same error occurs, and it did. So your revert of a commit did the trick, many thanks Smile

OK, so I re-ran some tests with the test files that Memphiz now has as well.

To start with here is a reproduction of the issue that I described in the first post, where access to the folder containing all mp3 files within an specific album causes a crash:
XBMC log: http://pastebin.com/H2GSHBT3
Crashlog: http://pastebin.com/mMgq3TKN
Syslog snippet: http://pastebin.com/PaQXpFCj
This crash is completely reproducible. I have not been able to open this folder without causing a crash

I have also taken a single file out of the folder, placed in a separate folder, and attempted to play that single file (the file is "05 22 Days.mp3"). Interestingly, the first time I tried to play this file it did actually play. What I did here was: start XBMC -> navigate to the file in the music folder -> start playback -> navigate back to the home screen -> stop playback -> shut down XBMC. Here's the logs from that successful play:
XBMC log: http://pastebin.com/ANeLYADA
Syslog snippet: http://pastebin.com/Ly0vg4rA

Each time I have tried to play the same file since then, it has crashed on accessing the folder which contains the file.
XBMC log: http://pastebin.com/NGVDN7hi
Crashreporter: http://pastebin.com/ae0Sx4mV
Syslog snippet: http://pastebin.com/nefJ5FHa

Hope that they're useful

***edit***
build details etc are the same as described in the first post:
Platform: Apple TV 2
iOS version: 4.1.1
XBMC build: XBMC PRE-11.0 Git:20111204-3943772 (Compiled Dec 5 2011)

Just tried downloading and using this one. All seems to be working so far. The folder opens, files seems to play OK, and library scanning seems to be going just fine! Big Grin

edit: full library scan finished; no problems. Cheers Memphiz!

We are still not through this. I can't just revert this commit because it is needed for correctly parsing id3tag comments. So we have to find a working solution.

So guys - what about that version. Does it still prevent the crash or is it back?

Memphiz

Loaded that last version and it's currently scanning the library, so far it's gone beyond the first two artists that caused problems for me previous, so early indications are good. Big Grin It'll take a while to get through all 1200 odd artists, but wanted to give you some feedback sooner rather than later!

Cheers!
