Using DirecTV remote with XBMC.

Is anyone using the DirecTV remote to control XBMC? If so, what IR receiver did you buy and how did you go about setting it up?

best bet is to try with a FLIRC.TV receiver

Depends on which DirectTV remote you specifically have (RC-23, 24, 64, 65)?

You could program it as a Microsoft Media PC (code 21972, I think) and get an HP MCE IR receiver.

Get a Flirc.

What OS are you using XBMC on?

Almost any programmable remote will work with the original Xbox1 DVD dongle.

You program it for an RCA DVD player and you're done.

I've used mine with a TV universal remote, my HT Receiver's remote, and now the Harmony remote, and all work fine.

Plus, they're dirt cheap on fleaBay, like $8 including shipping...

Does flirc work with a Dish Network remote?
If it does, would I be able to turn on and off my PC which would have an ASRock motherboard?

I am also wanting to do this. What would I need to do in order to make this work? What is flirc?

I have 4 Directv remotes and I never thought of using it for anything other than Directv.
