No worries, glad it worked - 1080p excellent, I haven't found any ads higher than 360p, will have to look out for those.

Hopefully, Lordlindy is working on this aaddon to show ads when movies/tvshows are paused, as I think that would be pretty cool, especially if the ads can be from the same year as the film.

I've had a look at scripts myself, but don't think I've got the ability!!

Putting together a library of cool ads to share though, in case that is an option with this addon in the future (locally stored ads); mostly football/beer ads etc... so far. Will put them up somewhere soon hopefully.

I didn't think I was going to like this addon, but now that I've tried it, I'm hooked--thanks for posting this!

Two questions--is anyone else getting significant pre-play buffering on their ATV2 with this addon? And, when I click on a country and then choose a year, I seem to get taken into an "infinite loop" of menu choices...i.e. I then get presented with the same list of years, if I choose one again I get the same list of years, and the only way out is to back away slowly Smile

- ATV2 4.4.4 (iOS 5.0.1) build 9A406a, running Frodo (final version)
- Macbook Pro, running OSX Mountain Lion
- Skin: reFocus
- Connecting to MySQL database on Synology DS411+ NAS via NFS.

Can't comment about the playback on ATV2, but all is fine on windows.

Yeah, I think from reading previous posts that the menu issues are known about. From what I've worked out though, if you choose a year, the ads for that year are below the list of years.

oh, okay, didn't realize that...thought it was still the complete list of ads under the years. I'll give it another go, thanks Smile

Sorry guys. Got sidetracked over the holidays. I'll continue working on the addon this week.

It's harder than I thought to "pre-scrape" the various links in order to build a list for randomizing.

I'll try and add download functionality as well.

As for the resolutions...unfortunately the site requires a paid membership to display the high-res videos. They provide high res for some new releases, but after a few weeks, they remove them and simply leave the 360p.
Even the 360p is "hidden" when browsing the page...I had to cheat to find it in the header.

As for the "looping" menus...I tried to provide the ability (like on the webpage) to view by year...but as some of the years are empty, the site/link simply takes you back to the prior page... if there are ads..it simply shows the ads for that year...but I left the "year" links so we could still pick another year.

Also, the site has some serious "language" character issues. Some sections display in UTF, others in something else...making "cleaning" the titles a bit hard. Sorry, I'm new to Python...so it is slow going.

I'll try and release v1 with some things fixed...and maybe move to github to try and get some help from others.

Cheers,
LordIndy

Also, the idea of providing a bunch of ads in a folder is great. I suppose once I get the "download" functionality done, it would be easy to also point to a folder to play ads from.

There is some meta info for each add on the website, but they have no standard for it...so trying to find the appropriate fields (mainly year) so that it can be associated with movies of the same year... I'll see.

Once again...most of the randomizing, or being called from another plugin, or providing lists of ads (based on meta tags) requires that the plugin pre-scrape the site and build a list of ads...not sure how much delay that would add when launching it.

Lordlindy, as the majority of ads on advertolog are 360p, is it worth trying a different source; like PatK says, maybe Youtube?

I found a few, no idea if you can scrape from them though and they are mainly UK ones;

http://www.uktvadverts.com

http://www.tellyads.com

http://www.clipland.com

http://www.arrowsarchive.com

Many of the others link to Youtube anyway, so that could be the best option.

I'm trying to put together a collection of decent quality ads, mainly downloading from Youtube - getting high enough resolution on any ads over a few years old is a bit of a problem, but I'll share what I've got if anyone is interested.
