If I load all my movies onto a external from my Mac and gather all the data from there, will Windows automatically see the data downloaded?

I need to do this because currently my Windows network card is broken and cannot be repair unless I replace the motherboard, which I currently cannot afford.

Format the HDD as NTFS and it should work on both.

It's formatted to FAT32 so I can read/write on both machines. Will the movie data be stored on the external HDD so both will recognize or is the XBMC downloaded data stored locally?
