So, I just tried this on 2 fresh Ubuntu installs. First was 10.04.3 LTS and now 11.10 (both 32-bit). In 10.04, I had installed the ATI drivers from Ubuntu and XBMC from the offical repos.
In 11.10, I used the Proprietary AMD Drivers (fglrx 8.91.4 [Oct 25 2011]), nathan-renniewaldock ppa: (11.0-BETA1) & I have tweaked the xorg.conf according to a few posts I'd come across.
I have a home server running Ubuntu 10.04LTS, serving up NFS shares that I've mounted via fstab to my /home/user/Videos & Movies directories. When I go to open either the films or music (divx/xvid/mkv/mp3/flac), whether in fullscreen or windowed mode, XBMC immediately closes. Leaving a segfault 11 message in the syslog. It's reproduceable everytime (and highly irritating). All the media plays fine in mplayer and VLC.
Can anyone with a bit more knowledge than I have a gander at it? I'm not really wanting to revert back to the M$ side of home media....
xbmc_crashlog-20111212_112336.log
xorg.conf
lshw
xmbc terminal output
xbmc_crashlog-20111212_235633
Let me know if there's any other logs/info you might need.
Cheers!
