@AJB999

I hope my guide helped you, I've added some lines to be more clear that you have to initialize ATI configuration outside of the Xsession, and also for Black borders Big Grin

@gfisher:

Take a look at:
http://youresuchageek.blogspot.fr/search/label/Backup

My "main users" do not accept any XBMC downtime Big Grin So the way i proceed is in deed simple, i have 2 system partitions, the second is cloned from the first with a N-1 version, from time to time when i plan an important upgrade (that's all a process ^^) i clone my install.
In case of trouble, i don't even have to downgrade but just to set to automatically boot to the backup install, then i can later correct and achieve my upgrade Cool

Thx fritsch!
As usual, perfect support!!!
hi,

i have the latest version installed from xbmc-xvba on a rl70. everything is working fine other than music playback, which pauses at odd intervals. when it pauses, the debug log prints:

DEBUG: CSoftAEStream::GetFrame - Underrun

any ideas on how this can be fixed to get stutterless playback? the music is mostly flacs with a few mp3s thrown in.

a debug log is at: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=9354

happy to provide any other information.

cheers.

@rea1ity:
AE is under heavy development. We expect to make new packages tomorrow after some very critical bugs have been sorted out. If it works fine for our testing - we will update xbmc-xvba version with this testing version.

So thanks for your report - I hope it was fixed upstream.

@fritsch:
thanks for the update. i'll keep an eye out for the new packages and take them for a spin.

cheers.
@guilmxm thanks. The cloning tut looks very good.
About the 9.0.0 Release:

There are currently three versions out there:
1.) 9.0.0 Embedded Version with String: 9.00-120815a-147115C-ATI Kernel-Module Date: August 15
2.) 9.0.0 12.9 Beta Version with String: 9.00-120815a-147115C-ATI Kernel-Module Date: August 15
-> These two are completely the same - but only different control files

3.) 9.0.0 Quantal Version with String: 9.00.11-120920a-147436C-ATI Kernel-Module Date: September 20

Quantal Versionis more than one month newer than the other versions. Very irritating all that stuff and versioning.

@fritsch. Thanks so embedded I downloaded for my a4 apu was not right? Is beta quantal better? Embedded was tearing... I agree they have a versioning issue.
@gfisher:
Embedded was fine. Beta was also fine. The newest and "best" is the Quantal Version. It makes suspend working for me. But - concerning XVBA there is no real advantage over 12.6 or 12.8 yet. Though(!) beginning with 9.0.0 a new internal XVBA API version is shipped. As there is no new SDK for it - no new features can be used.

You can easily build the quantal version on Precise - best is: just wait :-)

@fritsch

Hi, thanks, could you confirm the link to last Beta version (quantal):

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd-dri...x86_64.zip

How do you get this version string ?

@guilmxm:
Quantal Version I have downloaded via packages.ubuntu.com It is not in the normal ".run" file form. I repackaged the debian package via dpkg-buildpackage.

The version you have linked is the official "beta" - that is one month older than what currently is in quantal.
the kernel modul version, you get by doing: dmesg |grep fglrx
The other version string (if correctly updated (aticonfig --initial -f)) you can get via:
sudo amdconfig --get-pcs-key=LDC,ReleaseVersion

Ok thanks! Why would ATI make things simple when that's so funny to make it hard ^^
