I attempted to try to install the nightly build. However, I get stuck on the
dpkg -i xbmc*.deb step. It just gives me and then just hangs there:

(Reading database ... 3620 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2 10.0-9 (using .../org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2_10.0-9_iphoneos-arm.deb) ...

On my ATV2 it has "CFBundleName" where XBMC usually is.

Tried rebooting the ATV2 and power cycling the ATV2, but continue to get the same error. I've also tried to reinstall XBMC with the original instructions but get this error:

org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 7 not upgraded.
1 not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 0B/40.0MB of archives.
After this operation, 0B of additional disk space will be used.

org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2

When I say yes, I go back to the original hangup.

Your trying to install the iPhone version on your appleTV. You have downloaded the wrong version of the nightly. Follow the steps under "Installing the latest nightly build" exactly as outlined in the wiki and you'll be fine.

I'm not sure how I downloaded the iphone version, since I did use the ATV2 wiki. Either way, I'm still hanging on this:

I don't know if started because the ATV2 gave me the upgrade message during the first time I tried to update the nightly build today.
