This is either a bug or a feature suggestion depending on how the coders meant for this to work.
When adding a new movie using the media stub feature it will not use existing info or artwork unless you match the media tag (i.e. "dvd"). For example, if I have a directory with:
XBMC will not use the existing files, but it will scrape new information instead. If I change the filenames to be:
then it will use the existing files correctly when adding it to the library.
I just tested this with the current nightly (XBMC Pre-11.0 Git:20111210-f1ae0b6) on Windows 7 and the issue persists.
Assuming it's not a bug, I would suggest having XBMC be able to read the files with or without the media tag present. It would make things much less annoying for people who use external scrapers.
