I have been trying for the last 2 weeks to download XBMC without success...

I am using WIndows 7 with Internet Explorer 9. On clicking on the download link for XBMC v11 Eden I get downloads window open that shows a 50.3Mb download from either:
- http://ftp.df.lth.se/pub/xbmc/releases/w...c-11.0.exe
or
- http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/xbmc/releases/...c-11.0.exe

and that's it - the download never starts. Any attempt to download XBMC never starts - eventually the download just times out.
I can download any other software from other sites. Also I can ping these XBMC FTP sites -the sites are visible across my network and I can log into these site as guest with an FTP client.
I have tried this download at different times of day, different days of the week.... No difference
I have tried disabling anti-virus software, windows firewall and my router firewall - no difference.

Any ideas?

how about trying with Firefox or Chrome?
The links work fine for me.
PS: Have you maybe set a proxy in IE that you don't really need?

Forgot to mention above - have already tried Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet Explorer - same result with all of these.

Have also tried a different PC (also running Windows 7) on my network - same result....

It appears that the link http://mirrors.xbmc.org/releases/win32/xbmc-11.0.exe is actually just a front end (probably some kind of traffic sharer) to the 2 mirror download sites for XBMC:
- http://ftp.df.lth.se/pub/xbmc/releases/w...c-11.0.exe
- http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/xbmc/releases/...c-11.0.exe

So actually the same problem.

Could somebody with a quick connection who has downloaded XBMC please attach it to an email and send it to me at [email protected]
I am now really out of ideas of what to try to make this download happen and am really fed up of dealing with the nightmares of Windows Media Player.

I just did a google search for xbmc-11.0.exe and found it hosted a bunch of places. I'd recommend filehippo:

BUT

http://www.filehippo.com/download_xbmc_m...nter/tech/ - works fine (downloading at the moment)

Sound like you have issues grabbing url links from FTP servers.
