Eden Beta update issues
#31
I read on the ATV2 FAQ that iOS 4.4 is needed for Eden, true?

I have always been apprehensive on upgrading the iOS in case of breaking compatibility with XBMC.

To install XBMC for iOS you must have a jailbroken Apple TV 2 with software version 4.1 to 4.4. See here to find out what version you are currently running.

Actually, that "To install XBMC for iOS you must have a jailbroken Apple TV 2 with software version 4.1 to 4.4" phrase is a bit unclear from an English standpoint. "Software version", singular, followed by numbers, implies there's one particular version that will work. Since 4.4 is the highest number, some people might assume that's the only correct version (and that the "4.1 and" is some kind of leftover typo).

Slightly clearer might be to phrase it this way:
"To install XBMC for iOS, you must have a jailbroken Apple TV 2 that's running any Apple software version between 4.1 and 4.4."
- Amazon FireTV Stick 4K running latest stable Kodi version
- Sony Bravia XBR-x900h Android TV running latest stable Kodi version
- Skin: Aeon Nox: SiLVO

It's a wiki. If you can improve it then edit it.

FWIW, I am having the same issue(s). I bought a new ATV yesterday for a friend and ran into the same issue. I started from scratch many times in an attempt to see where the problem lay. If I installed XBMC from Cydia I got a 'Frontrow app md5sum is unknown, not patching' error and wound up with no XBMC button. The last attempt was as follows:

1) Clean Seas0nPass install
2) apt-get update; apt-get upgrade
3) Installed NitoTV
4) Installed XBMC from NitoTV
<at this point everything worked>
5) apt-get update; apt-get upgrade
<no Lowtide/AppleTV>

On my ATV, which works fine and is running Eden, there are two updates available:

mobilesubstrate
uikittools

I am reluctant to upgrade them in case they are the one responsible for the failure of Lowtide/AppleTV to launch after a reboot.

Ah, "To install XBMC for iOS you must have a jailbroken Apple TV 2 with software version 4.1 to 4.4. See here to find out what version you are currently running."

I think the word "between" should be inserted before "4.1" then. Either that, we can rephrase the wiki to "software version of at least 4.1". Thanks Jester.

Ignore my previous post, I realized my news is dated by the later posts. Nod

Same problem here, updated to Eden last night and now XBMC is missing.

Tried reinstalling it there but no joy.

I notice a few errors in the Terminal text during upgrading, linked to below.

Any help much appreciated.

Since its being discussed in somewhat way: is iOS 5 (4.4 and so on still experimental in Eden?)
In know for a fact that XBMC works great in iOS 4

But the iOS 5 jailbreak is around the corner...
I'd love to finally also use the AirPlay mirroring Wink
