I'm using XBMC on an old laptop that I use as a media center. When I'm in the movie list (library mode) the fans spin up and computer sounds like an airplane. However, if I start a movie, even a 1080 movie, the fans go down to almost nothing. I use the "simplicity" skin but I have the same issue with other skins. This happens in both XBMC 10 and 11 beta.
It's obviously not a big problem, but I think it's a bit strange. Anyone know why and if there's a setting/fix for it?
Fans (in the computer) going wild in library view?

Presumably XBMC is using 100% CPU and your PC spins up the fans accordingly. If so, the 100% CPU is usually because vsync is not enabled or a buggy video driver isn't handling vsync properly. Look in System settings, System, Video output and check that "Vertical blank sync" is set to "Always enabled".
I had an old test PC that used 100% CPU while showing the home screen or menus, and in the end I fixed it by replacing the video card. JR |

I remember turning off the vsync, so that's probably it. Thanks.
