Hi guys,

I'm seeing xbmc crashing/restarting everytime I try to play certain anime mkv files. Here are the relevant logs for one of them.

Let me know if I can provide additional information.

Thanks!

Platform: ATV2
iOS Version: iPhone OS 4.3 (8F202)
ATV Version: 4.2.1 (2100)
XBMC Version: XBMC 11.0-BETA1 Git:2011222-22ad8e4

XMBC installed via apt-get update, apt-get dist-upgrade (http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...from_Cydia)

xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/yhk5VSHg
syslog: http://pastebin.com/RysSxY1X
Based on the timestamp, the crashreporter log does not seem relevant, but here it is anyway: http://pastebin.com/FcFPRcE2

exposed will consume memory, in fact all frapps will consume a certain amount of mem depending on how well behaved they are.

Ah, now that I know what to look for. I see that syslog shows the following:

Code:
1935.Dec 29 08:23:04 Apple-TV ReportCrash[184]: Saved crashreport to /Library/Logs/CrashReporter/LowMemory

Funny cause I thought that it might be a result of low memory as mentioned in the other threads but the visual onscreen debug output did not show memory consumption to be anywhere near 256MB. Maybe I was reading it wrong? I'll go double check it again later tonight.

Thanks!

I don't even remember installing exposed, but it might have been from many months ago when I first setup the ATV2.

How do I go about uninstall it? In fact, how can I find any other unnecessary apps that are running and remove them to free up more memory?

Maybe I should wait a couple more days for the iOS5.01 untethered jailbreak to be released and do a full restore.

I found some instructions from the archive (http://forum.xbmc.org/archive/index.php/t-97063.html) that I'll try out tonight.

Seems like exposed came with nitotv which I think I installed to get updatebegone.

Does Eden beta 1 now also automatically install the updatebegone package? Interested to know since I'll likely be updating to 4.4.4 once the new version of Seas0npass is out and will be setting this up again.

Removing exposed and the several nito packages gave me back ~15MB of RAM back (from ~95MB to ~110MB of free memory according to XBMC's System Info).

Playing the file is still crashing XBMC because of low memory though, which I expect is likely due to the complex subtitles/karaoke scripts.

I'm curious - what's the amount of free memory that you expect to see on the ATV2 if only XBMC was installed?

Mine crashes on a very specific folder. Very strange.
I don't even have time to select a file berore it crashes.
My solution for now, is to select the movie file from within the iPhone app "XBMoteC".
And select a bookmark if I need to stop the movie before the end.

Hope that will help someone.

no that doesn't help at all. Post xbmc.log and crashreporter file for the devs to have a look what your crash caused.
