I have a bad habit of turning the XBMC volume down from my laptop rather than getting up to get the remote.

Then my roommate watches something and they have to turn up the TV volume since they don't know how to do it from a computer.

I'd like to just have XBMC reset to max volume every time a video starts.

You could do this with a bit of Python scripting. It's not trivial though ...
