So do you guys mean you have JB'ed your iPad and installed XBMC on it, then playing a movie and then trying to AirPlay to the ATV2? Why don't you use XBMC on the ATV2 to grab the movie itself? Just curious.

Why don't you use XBMC on the ATV2 to grab the movie itself? Just curious. Nope you missunderstood. Its about using any airplay client (for example the youtube app on an ipad - which might be even non-jailbroken) and airplay the youtube video to any XBMC instance (for example one XBMC which is running on the ATV2). In the case where XBMC is used on the ATV2 you have to disable the ATV2s own AirPlay feature. Else the XBMC target is not visible to the youtube app. AppleTV2/iPhone/iPod: HowTo find debug logs and everything else which the devs like so much: click here HowTo setup NFS for XBMC: Wiki NFS HowTo configure avahi (zeroconf): Wiki Avahi READ THE IOS FAQ!: iOS FAQ |

I see. Thanks for the info. I did not even know XBMC has its own AirPlay function. So why would you want to use the XBmC AirPlay over the normal apple one? Do you have a link to a tutorial? Curious.

deactivate aurplay in the appletv frontrow and activate airplay in xbmc network settings ... this should be all which is needed...

I see there is Airplay inside XBMC. So why would someone use this rather than the normal Airplay?

Because if you have XBMC running and now want to airplay something quickly while having XBMC running - using the "normal" AirPlay will close/crash XBMC and won't work. (2012-01-03 01:08)Memphiz Wrote: this is definitly not an xbmc issue but an ios issue ... frontrows airplay shadows the xbmc airplay ... this was the case for older nightly builds also ... I don't know if you guys worked to fix anything (intentionally) since these posts, but I recently updated to Eden final (still using iOS 4.4.4) and I confirm that both airplay works just fine again ("AppleTV" under Frontrow, and "XBMC (AppleTV)" when XBMC is running), without needing to enable/disable anything. Woot!
