I don't know how, but on my ATV2 I have a red icon stuck at the top which is now following me and staying there, even when Movies and stuff are playing.

Googling let me to believe it may be a Mute Icon, but I can ensure you the audio is not muted. I've tried logging into the WebUI and increasing the volume hoping it would fix it (even though volume doesnt work on the AppleTV) but with no luck.

I'm guessing I need to manually kill wherever the volume setting XML is in XBMC to fix this? If so, anyknow know where or even another solution?

I don't even know how its possible to mute something where volume control isnt working Confused

Urgently looking for a fix, please Sad

Edit: Self Fixed, Edited GUISettings.XML on this line:

<volumelevel>-6000</volumelevel>
To:
<volumelevel>0</volumelevel>

As for how XBMC managed to set it to that low on a version which doesn't even have a volume control will remain a mystery :O

Use google to search the site rather than the built in one. It works much better.

I read the other post when it was made. It helps if you know it exists Smile

One guy had to copy the contents of the file, delete the old one, and paste the text into a new guisettings.xml file. After doing this don't forget to also fix permissions on the file:

I'm having the exact same problem. I've had it "take" once but it seems to reset itself on every startup of XBMC.

Is there any way around this? Thanks!

Running Eden B3.

In the back of my mind I want to say it was an add-on that was doing this, but I can't find the post. Will keep looking.

TvTunes maybe?

it has an option to temporary lower the volume while it's running.
though it will restore the volume to the original value when the script exits.

no clue if this messes things up on the atv, since we can't control the volume there at all.
