hi there
i been a user of xbmc for well over a year now, streaming from my basement computer to my room streaming mostly movies and tv show's


now with the new norco case i got i just created a REAL server at my basement

is there a program that allows my other family members to access the photos and home videos at my home ( with an interface of course )
and maybe have the ability to upload some images and videos of their own to my house server
and with user accounts permission so they can access certain images without the rest

i tryed plex and boxee but it was just a cheap knockoff xbmc... is there a solution for what i am suggesting ?

You could do this easy enough without the interface using permissions. Where you would set permissions for different users using a smb share (for example), they would navigate using their file explorer on the computer - won't be a pretty as having an interface.

With interface - i'm not sure about the options.

i used the windows home server couple of yers back and it did just that
each user have his own set of premmmitions on "online" shared folders..etc

was searching for something that does this without the whs

Are you searching for a solution for them to access your server from outside or inside your home? Got a little confused there
