[Linux] Radeon 5450 - Slow XBMC.
#1
Hey guys!

I bought the Radeon HD 5450 512Mb PCI-E card for my HTPC, i installed the XBMC live version which did not have VAAPI acceleration.

So now i've installed ubuntu with XBMC and got the VAAPI running with the latest Radeon drivers.

I had a Geforce 8600GT 256mb before and that ran great, i expected the Radeon card would have been an upgrade?

Movies runs just fine, as expected. But XBMC on the other hand says it's running at around 25fps, and is very laggish in the menus. I've tried Decoding in software, GLSL(?) and such, no luck.

I've been trying to find information about this, but the only thing i found was concerning Nvidia hardware.

Complete hardware setup: (The same setup as i had with the 8600GT)

Intel 3.2ghz
2x1Gb DDr dual channel
Radeon HD 5450 512mb
Usb install.

Thanks alot!

I'm having the same problem and I'm a Linux noob. I cannot figure out how to install video drivers through XBMCbuntu. When I go to my manufacture's website and get the driver from my windows PC it gives me an .exe even though I choose Linux as my OS...
