Apple TV crashes on playout of files with aspect ratio 9:5
#1
Hi guys,

I am using atv2 with Eden and am experiencing a rather odd issue. Some files are playing fine from the video library while other force atv box to restart after 2 seconds of playout. I debugged the issue and it seems to be following :

File playing fine has properties - video size 640x480, aspect ratio 4:3, audio codec WMA 9.2, video codec vc-1 simple/main profile

File crashing the system has properties - video size 700x400, aspect ratio 9:5 (1.81:1 displayed), audio codec WMA 9.2, video codec vc-1 simple/main profile

XBMC log shows following:

--------------

After playing first file fine I stopped the video and chose a second file that crashed the box.

Please help me to resolve this issue. It only happens on ATV/ATV2, XBMC on Win7 runs all files without any problem.

Did you do anything like try and play the file when you made that logfile?
All that happens is xbmc starts and loads almost every add-on in existence then is shut down.

Crash happend on 2012-01-15 17:10:25.918 -0500
syslog starts Jan 15 17:10:26 <- we need some mins before too ...

xbmc.log is useless - you didn't even try to play a file in there (as g-off already mentioned)

Sorry about that. XBMC created a new log file after the crash. The old one was named xbmc.log.old.

Are these streams you try to play? (some addon or so?)

That log was just huge! I cut from the place I started, all info before that was loading plugins, nothing interesting, really. We have a plugin for our service that works beautifully, but there is one issue that we noticed - it crashes the box and forces to restart on trying to play specific files - those having size 700x400 with aspect ratio 9:5 (VC-1 format). Other video files worked fine, just see the log from the first post where one file launched from mms://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/vod7/7407.50.wmv?sid=E4A6AD428C5EED9D8B3E809393E1A64514 6CDC0FF5C79BBCEFADDDF4F1B9088 (640x480) worked fine and the other one mms://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/vod7/4618.64.wmv?sid=002A298240FAB9099F3E6457370DB2F578 A8006BD95F4FC863C9191CF581SDS9 (700x400) crashed the box.

There are plenty of other files with similar properties behaving exactly the same way, so the issue is reproducible. Please let me know if I can provide more details.

One thing though, it is in Russian. I will send you a login/password from the service into your private box.

Guys,

The error is still in XBMC Eden. Please see a picture below. Two files - 1 on the left plays fine, no problem, 1 on the right causes ATV2 to reboot. Please look into it. Issue is reproducible on ATV2 with XBMC Eden

Guys, the issue is pretty severe and no one seems to be able to help. It has been confirmed and reproduced. All logs and screenshots are shown above. Issue exists only on AppleTV2. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.
