I have just traded in my iPhone for an Android phone, on the iPhone I used XBMC Remote by Collect 3

The aforementioned app can use the iDevice's keyboard to enter text instead of the in screen keyboard.

Is there an option to do this with the Official Android App?

If not could this be considered for inclusion in a future update?

when you come to a text dialog, hit the menu button and choose "text entry"

I don't get that option.

When I hit the menu button (I assume that you are talking about the hard touch button, the 1st of four reading from left to right on most Android phones), All that I get when using as remote are:

Now Playing
Gesture Mode
Exit XBMC
Press "S" (which if pressed also exits XBMC)

hmmmm, and you're checking when you are at a text dialog box? do you have the latest remote apk?

The version that I installed two days back didn't have the option.

The update showed today.
