Here are some opportunities for XBMC to be in people's living rooms...

I wonder if any of the XBMC community has thought about contacting the Goog and asking for some free reference hardware in exchange for a concerted effort to get XBMC on Android?

Free hardware isn't the issue. XBMC uses a lot of libraries written and maintained by other groups; the team simply isn't big enough to write all the code themselves. Not all the libraries that XBMC needs are available for Android, and until all the required libraries get ported to Android it's not possible to port XBMC to it.

Dude mentioned Constellation, so is probably an Apple fanboy who thinks Android is a rip off of iOS, and thinks those of us who have Androids should ditch them in favor of Apple products.

Sadly enough, the lack of Android XBMC is becoming an iOS selling point and if I can save up enough pennies I probably will get an iPad instead of a much more open Android tablet just so I can run XBMC on it. So I guess it is working.

More importantly I think he misses the fact that so many of us aren't really concerned with getting XBMC on our phones (as cool as it would be) but mostly with having it available on tablets and settop boxes.

Please, let's not turn this thread into a 'I want XBMC on Android' monolog. We already know that, have discussed why and what it will take to get there in other threads.

Looks good. I would love to see some sort of Settop box made with XBMC in mind. I think having one to focus on would be ideal for XBMC in the long run while doing it for HTPC's too. I'm sure it would be bette on Devs too..

Well if you can point anyone in the direction of an Android app that looks anywhere close to how good Constellation looks, by all means.

Like what? I'm genuinely curious exactly which libraries supposedly don't work. It's got support for including native libraries to use with whatever app you might be developing, and you don't even need to root/jailbreak the device in order to use it (like the iOS version, or has that changed?).

It's one thing to simply say "it's our project and we don't feel like it, end of story" (which would be fine), but it's quite another to make up excuses for it.

Supposedly don't work?!
You think it's so simple - get started, code it, show those lazy devs how it's done.

Humm, another arm-chair programmer who knows nothing about the tasks involved. Let's stop this nonsense please, you sound like Newt talking about going back to the Moon...
