Skin (SVN) Question

I have 2 XBMC boxes. One XBMC box has a small list of skins. The other XBMC box has many many more skins of which many have the same name but with a (SVN) designation after the name. The version numbers are quite different looking for the SVN skins as well. My question is what does SVN mean and what do I gain from installing one of these versions?

SVN versions are what the authors are working on and are the latest update but not as stable as the ones without SVN . Once tested the SVN versions then become the normal stable release.
