Launch XBMC with MCE remote

I really like to start XBMC when I stand in front of my flat screen, with help from an MCE remote. So my questions are:
is there a way to use windows button on the MCE remote to launch XBMC, I use "Add-on: MCERemote" it does the work really well.

Or another MCE remote button.Thanks

If you use the MCERemote add-on you're presumably using an eHome remote (see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows for how to check). In that case MCERemote has configured the green button to send the keystroke ctrl-shift-W so you just need to set this as the hotkey for the XBMC icon.

Open the Start menu, navigate to wherever the XBMC link is, then right click the XBMC link and choose Properties. Click in the "Shortcut key" field and press the green button on your remote. You should see "CONTROL + SHIFT + W" appear. Click OK. Now when you press the green button it will start XBMC, or if XBMC is already running it will set the focus to XBMC.

I don't suppose you know a real quick way of getting the "i" button to work on the same controller in XBMC?

It works fine in MCE, but I can't get my head around where/what to do to make the "i" button work on my remote so I can see the additional movie info scraped thru....

The 'i' is probably sending a right-click (post more info about the remote-pic if possible).

I ask because that remote sends a right mouse click when you press the i button. If so that isn't an eHome remote and you won't be able to use the trick I described above to open XBMC with the green button. However you can open it with a different button e.g. one of the coloured buttons.

In XBMC v10.1 you can't map a right click to display Info, but you can in Eden.

No its nt a VRC-1100 its a genuine Microsoft remote (the one with the coloured buttons on the bottom) via a Microsoft IR Receiver.

So the "i" button works on my IR keyboard, but not on the remote.

If you've used the MCERemote add-on the i button should be sending a ctrl-D (which is a slightly odd keypress, but that's the standard Media Center shortcut for "Info". Presumably the "D" is short for "Details").

Grab ShowKey from http://xbmcmce.sourceforge.net/. This will show you what keypress the i button is sending.

Hello. I've a problem, when i want to assign shortcutkey, nothing appear. When i press green button on my remote, nothing happen. Is Windows Media Center required to have the shortcut working? Because i have uninstalled it.

I use HP HDX remote and eHome driver in use.

Edit : Ok it works now, i just forgot apply settings to registry on XBMC (but for me, the shortcut key is Ctrl + Shift + Z, because i'm on an Azerty keyboard). But a small problem, on the HP HDX remote, this just one button for Play/Pause, and nothing happen when i press it. Any idea to solve it? --> Just backup the reg key after applied add-on and edit it to paste "6E,00,00,00,01,cd,00" code at the end of mapping table.

you can set this program to launch xbmc after a few seconds of your last program start, and you end with xbmc in full screen mode.

but really, the best way to control xbmc is with a android or a iPhone and lenovo mini wireless keyboard n5902 ( if your motherboard support wake on usb is just perfect.)
