Ned Scott Wrote:themovieDB scraper got updated and some things got borked. You can also use the rollback feature to get a previous version of themovieDB on B1 if you wish, but B2 should have lots of other bug fixes as well.

With Eden 1, everything was running smoothly. Updated to B2 last night because of the crash issue, now XBMC crashes very often randomly. Worst yet, CPU spikes often, perhaps this is the cause of the un-responsiveness. slowness with XBMC?

Is there a tutorial to completely uninstall XBMC and then reinstall it again? I need something to do this manually as I am not using NitoTV.

Also, do you mean that XBMC is updated in the background? Just trying to understand how themovieDB was updated. I want to setup XBMC properly then disable all updates so it stays performing normally. Is there a way to do this after I do a complete re-install?

Reinstalling + wiping out the XBMC data folder would give a totally fresh install.

SSH in and type:

Code:
rm -r /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC/

rm -r /private/var/stash/Applications/XBMC.frappliance/

then reinstall XBMC

As for auto-updating, that's just for add-ons (including themovieDB scraper). To turn auto-updating off go to System/Settings -> Add-ons
Then left arrow to bring up the side menu and deselect "auto update". However, the latest themovieDB and Beta 2 should be all fine now.

After running the 2 lines that you quoted, I followed these instructions to re-install but something happened.

After apt-get install org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2

message says I already have the latest version of XBMC. Any ideas?

Update, had to run this before re-installing otherwise, XBMC would not install.

apt-get remove org.xbmc.xbmc-atv2

Jiminho Wrote:ok ive managed to get it working, its to do with the metadata the xbmc plugins you need to ftp into your box,and goto the folder stash, the applications,XBMC.frappliance,XBMCData,XBMCHome, addons, then delete folder that has movie db metadata in it,also delete xbmc metadata file to this will get xbmc to stop crashing but it will come up with plugins broken just press yes to all of them,it should work after that, this is a work in progress but at least it will be able to use xbmc,or the other way is uplug your router boot xbmc then plug your router back in,but if you shut xbmc and boot up it again with interent still connected it will crash again

This fixed it for me!
I did it on three apple Tvs and all fixed!
Thanks Jimminho!

thanks Ned for responding, I read the instr for reporting but I can't get into xbmc to enable debugging, xbmc crashes atv2 as soon as I hit enter. All the rest I'm pretty sure I can do.
Again thanks in advance

I had the crashing problem on three apple tv's and managed to clear it by upgrading eden beta 1 to beta via Nito TV. Each time I updated to B2, I rebooted the apple tv.
