Internet failure on Eden 11.0

I just installed Eden 11.0 on my laptop. Any attempt to update or add an update, I meet failure. Initially, I that it was just a Linux issue, but ran into the same problem under Windows 7 (although under W7, there was some interesting issues. For instance, if I attempted to add city for Weather, it would actually find the city, but fail to show under the Weather menu under the UI).

I removed my .xbmc directory and then restarted XBMC. Still not able to update or add. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

*** I install 10.1 on both the linux machine as well as the Windows 7 machine, and was able to download add-on, etc. Trying to figure out what is not making Eden work correctly!
